- Medals raise a hero’s grade; trophies raise their rank. Plan these upgrades separately.
- Don’t automatically prioritize the same hero for Colosseum, monster hunting, and research.
- Focus your Elite Stage attempts on one main hero, then reassess your progress each week.
CONTENTS
One of the most common mistakes in Lords Mobile is farming every Elite Stage that drops medals without making any one hero noticeably stronger. Your Colosseum team needs more healing, but you keep collecting medals for a hero you never use simply because the stage is easy. You spend energy, yet your lineup barely improves.
The answer isn’t to follow a universal “best hero” list. First decide where you’ll use the hero, then build your medal route around that role. This plan focuses on free heroes and works whether your account is new or established.
Medals, levels, and ranks are different upgrades
Mixing up the paths on a hero’s screen can send you after the wrong materials. Medals raise that hero’s grade. Levels increase through experience. Ranks increase when you equip the required trophies. Improving one does not automatically complete the other two.
Suppose Prima Donna keeps falling early in your Colosseum team. Before committing all your energy to medals, check three things: Is her level behind the other four heroes? Are there trophies you can equip? Or are those already in order, leaving her grade as the likely gap? Medal farming may not fix the real bottleneck if either of the first two is holding her back.
Apply the same check to Rose Knight. If your frontline collapses early, her grade may not be the only problem; your damage dealers might not be defeating the opponent fast enough. Judge an upgrade by the results of your five-hero team, not one hero’s screen. If you’re stuck on a Hero Stage, try the lineup and skill-timing approach in our Hero Stage guide before making a stage you cannot clear the foundation of your farming route.
Choose your goal first: Which hero fills a need?
Free heroes serve different purposes. Prima Donna provides healing and can help a Colosseum team survive. Rose Knight offers frontline durability and team support, but she cannot be a short-term farming target until you unlock her. Tracker is a physical damage option. Trickster’s research-focused administrative skill can make him worth developing even if he is not on your Colosseum team.
The key is to invest in the problem that costs you the most. If your Colosseum frontline holds but you cannot defeat the opponent before the match ends, look at your damage rather than upgrading only your healer. If the frontline collapses, more Tracker medals probably are not the first fix. And during a period of long research projects, overlooking Trickster because he is not in your battle lineup may cost you an opportunity.
Write down one main goal and one secondary goal—for example, “improve my Colosseum team” and “develop Trickster for research.” That gives your Elite Stage attempts an order. Don’t upgrade a hero just because they are popular. If you cannot describe the role they will fill on your account in one sentence, put their medals second for now.
Priority check for free heroes
| Hero | Key use | When to prioritize |
|---|---|---|
| Prima Donna | Healing | Your team struggles to survive |
| Rose Knight | Frontline and team support | She is unlocked and your frontline falls early |
| Tracker | Physical damage | Your team survives but deals too little damage |
| Trickster | Research-focused growth | Research is an account priority |
How to build an Elite Stage farming route
For hero medals, identify the relevant Elite Hero Stages. Don’t expect every hero’s medals to come from the same stage: Check which medal each accessible Elite Stage awards, then map your route. Being able to clear a stage does not make it a priority. Its reward should help the hero you are currently developing.
Use this three-step route:
- Pick your priority hero and identify the accessible Elite Stages that award their medals.
- If you cannot clear those stages reliably, improve your team’s levels, trophies, and skill timing first.
- Put remaining energy toward your secondary goal; don’t keep postponing your main hero just because another stage is easier.
Imagine you can access two Elite Stages. One awards medals for a hero on your active Colosseum team; the other awards medals for someone you have not used in months. Even if the second stage is easier, prioritizing the first better supports your goal. If you cannot win that first stage consistently yet, focus that day on building a team that can clear it reliably, not on forcing medal runs.
If you have access to the Sweep feature, it can speed up repeat clears, but it will not choose your priorities for you. With limited energy and attempts, keep one main target and, at most, one secondary target rather than trying to raise everyone at once.
Before entering an Elite Stage
- Check which medal the stage awards.
- Decide whether that hero is your main or secondary target.
- If you cannot clear the stage reliably, improve your team first.
Decide separately for Colosseum, hunting, and growth
A hero who performs well in Colosseum will not necessarily perform equally well against every monster. When hunting, observe the target monster and your team’s damage; don’t mix physical and magic damage options without checking the result. Likewise, needing healing in a five-hero Colosseum team does not mean every hunt calls for the same lineup.
Run a small test: Compare two lineups you can field against the same monster. Use Tracker in one, then change a damage hero in the other. Compare the results and whether your heroes survive. Note any differences in their levels and grades, too. One attempt is not enough to declare a hero the best against every monster. For energy planning, see our monster hunting guide.
In Colosseum, diagnose the problem by role: Does the frontline fall early? Does Prima Donna go down before she can heal? Or does your team survive but fail to deal enough damage before time runs out? Building a defense lineup calls for its own approach, so check the Colosseum defense guide as well. You can find more hero topics on the blog, but set your medal order using your own match results.
A seven-day plan you can use
On day one, sort your heroes into three groups: Using now, Using soon, and Not using yet. On day two, choose one main hero and note the Elite Stages you can access for their medals. Over the following days, direct your attempts toward that route. Each evening, make a brief note: Which stage could you clear comfortably? Where did your team struggle? Is your medal target still the right one?
On day seven, review the results by game mode. If your goal was Colosseum, identify which role in your five-hero team cost you matches. If your goal was hunting, compare the lineups you tested against the same monster. If your goal was research, don’t remove Trickster from consideration just because he is not on your battle team. This weekly check keeps habit from deciding your upgrades.
Keep hero development separate from war intelligence. LordsRally’s !equip command shows an opponent’s current and past equipment images, while rally alerts can help you spot an approaching threat. Neither reveals the opponent’s internal troop composition or chooses your heroes for you. If you want to explore those tools, see the commands and features; your medal priority still starts with your lineup and the modes you play.
Compare your priority list with other players in your guild. If you also want to discuss war alerts while planning your hero upgrades, get in touch.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do medals increase a hero’s rank?
No. Medals raise a hero’s grade; equipping the required trophies raises their rank. Levels increase through experience. Check the upgrade screen to see which resource is actually missing.
Should I upgrade Prima Donna or Tracker first?
If your five-hero team dies early, check Prima Donna’s level, rank, and grade. If the team survives but cannot deal enough damage, Tracker may be the more useful priority. Base the decision on the matches you lose, not a universal ranking.
Should I farm every Elite Stage each day?
Usually not. Start with medals for a hero you actively use, then put remaining attempts toward a secondary goal. Farming medals for unused heroes only because their stages are easy can delay your main lineup’s progress.
LordsRally tracks your target castles, finds them again after they teleport and alerts your guild.
